Tips for Marketing over the Internet: Social Media

Social media is no longer just a way for people to stay connected with each other. It is now also a fantastic way for businesses to reach out to potential and actual customers alike. In fact, you may already be engaged in a social media marketing campaign right now. In that case, here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your social media efforts:

Share Pictures

People say that a picture is worth a thousand words. In that case use a picture instead of forcing customers to read a thousand words. Adding a picture to your social media posts can substantially improve the chances of it being read and shared. On Twitter, for example, tweets with pictures get 150 percent more retweets!

Choose Carefully

When starting out, try to limit yourself to two or three platforms. Spreading yourself too thin early on will only diminish the effectiveness of all your social media profiles, which can give you a reputation you would rather not have. Before you create your profiles, find out which sites are the most popular among your target market. Start with those sites.

Time it Right

There’s no point in sharing things over social media if you post them at a time when your target market isn’t online. Pay close attention to when your target market is online and post during that timeframe. For example, if you are trying to reach office workers, try posting during their lunch break.
